Why this fits your C-HR++

The Toyota C-HR+ has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Toyota C-HR+ versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Toyota C-HR+, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Toyota C-HR+ Excel
  • Toyota C-HR+ Design
  • Toyota C-HR+ Gr Sport
  • Toyota C-HR+ Plus Icon
  • Toyota C-HR+ 77 kWh AWD
  • Toyota C-HR+ Plus Excel

Whichever C-HR+ trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Toyota C-HR+.

The Toyota C-HR+ is a fully electric crossover distinct from the C-HR PHEV, arriving in the UK from 2025. Where the plug-in hybrid shares the C-HR name, the C-HR+ is a dedicated BEV built to stand apart, offered with a 57.7kWh or a 77kWh battery and DC rapid charging up to 150kW via CCS. Trims run from Plus Icon and Design through Excel, GR Sport, and a 77kWh AWD option. All versions use a Type 2 inlet for AC, and the cable you bring for home or public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The standard C-HR+ has an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger, with 22kW available on higher grade variants. DC rapid charging is handled by the charge point's own tethered cable. The 57.7kWh and 77kWh batteries charge at the same AC rate on the same specification of car, so choosing between them at home is mainly a question of how long each takes to fill, not what cable you need.

Select your battery above. On the same wallbox speed the 57.7kWh C-HR+ charges noticeably faster than the 77kWh version. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the C-HR+ need?

On a standard UK single-phase home supply, the AC charging speed is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the cable you use or the onboard charger fitted. A 7.4kW Type 2 lead gives the full speed your home setup can deliver, and for most C-HR+ owners that is the right and most cost-effective purchase. The 77kWh battery takes around ten to eleven hours at that rate; the 57.7kWh around eight hours, both manageable overnight.

A 22kW-rated cable is relevant for C-HR+ owners who have a higher-grade variant with 22kW AC capability and either a three-phase home supply or regular access to three-phase 22kW public AC charge points. In those situations the car can pull up to 22kW (or 11kW on the standard 11kW variant), cutting charge times meaningfully. On a single-phase home supply the speed is identical to a 7.4kW cable. Check your trim's specification before buying.

A 5m cable is the practical first choice for most home driveways. If your wallbox is mounted at a distance from where the car parks, or the charging inlet is on the far side of the car from the socket, a 7m lead avoids any awkward pull on the connector.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 77kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6 at an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £21 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The 57.7kWh version costs roughly £4 or around £16 at the same rates. As a crossover likely to be used as a primary family car, the difference between off-peak and standard tariffs adds up quickly across a week. Public rapid chargers typically cost 45p to 80p per kWh and are most cost-effective when used sparingly. Check current tariff rates.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Toyota C-HR+ need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. For most owners on a standard single-phase UK supply, a 7.4kW cable gives the full speed available at home. Higher-grade trims with 22kW AC charging can use a 22kW-rated cable at compatible three-phase public AC points to pull more speed there.

Can the Toyota C-HR+ charge at 22kW?+

On higher-grade trims that include the 22kW three-phase onboard charger, yes, at a compatible three-phase 22kW AC charge point and with a 22kW-rated cable. The standard C-HR+ is limited to 11kW on three phases. On a typical UK single-phase home wallbox the ceiling is 7.4kW regardless of trim or cable.

How long does the Toyota C-HR+ take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 77kWh battery takes around ten to eleven hours from empty; the 57.7kWh takes roughly eight hours. Both comfortably fill overnight. On an 11kW three-phase supply the 77kWh takes roughly seven hours. A three-pin granny charger is not practical as a primary charging method for either pack.

What length cable do I need for the Toyota C-HR+?+

A 5m cable works for most driveways and public charge point bays. If your wallbox sits further back from where the car parks, or the charging inlet is on the side of the car furthest from the socket, step up to a 7m lead to ensure a comfortable, untensioned connection.
