Why this fits your Mokka Electric+

The Vauxhall Mokka Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Vauxhall Mokka Electric versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Vauxhall Mokka Electric, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Vauxhall Mokka Electric Design
  • Vauxhall Mokka Electric GS
  • Vauxhall Mokka Electric GS Line
  • Vauxhall Mokka Electric Ultimate

Whichever Mokka Electric trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Vauxhall Mokka Electric.

The Vauxhall Mokka Electric is the second-generation electric version of Vauxhall's popular compact SUV, refreshed in 2023. The current battery is 54kWh, an upgrade from the 50kWh pack in earlier cars, and DC rapid charging peaks at 100kW. Trims run from Design through GS and GS Line to Ultimate, giving buyers a wide spread of specification levels. The car charges via a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions; the cable you supply when connecting to a home wallbox or public AC charger is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The Mokka Electric's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW across three phases. In practice, most UK home supplies are single-phase, which limits the charge rate to 7.4kW regardless of cable. DC rapid charging peaks at 100kW and always uses the charger's own tethered cable: it is not something you buy or bring.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Mokka Electric need?

At a standard single-phase UK home wallbox, 7.4kW is the maximum the supply can deliver to the Mokka Electric, whatever cable you use. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is therefore the right choice for most home setups: it is cheaper than a 22kW alternative and charges at exactly the same speed on a single-phase supply. At 7.4kW the 54kWh battery takes around seven to eight hours from empty, which fits comfortably into a typical overnight schedule.

Where a 22kW cable changes the picture is at three-phase chargers, at home or in public. If your home has a three-phase supply, or you routinely park at a 22kW AC charger at a workplace or shopping destination, a 22kW cable lets the Mokka Electric draw its full 11kW from those chargers and cuts charge time by around a third compared with 7.4kW. On a standard single-phase home the two cable options produce no difference in speed.

What does it cost to charge?

A full charge on the 54kWh battery costs around £4 on an off-peak EV tariff of roughly 7.5p per kWh, and around £15 at a standard rate of roughly 27p per kWh. The Mokka Electric is well-suited to overnight home charging: the 54kWh pack fills from near-empty in a standard session without needing to start particularly early in the evening. Public rapid charging is considerably dearer at 45p to 80p per kWh, so using it mainly on longer journeys keeps running costs sensible. Always check current tariff rates, as they vary.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Vauxhall Mokka Electric need?+

The Vauxhall Mokka Electric has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Vauxhall Mokka Electric need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. The Mokka Electric's onboard AC charger supports up to 11kW on three phases. On a standard single-phase UK home supply a 7.4kW cable is all that is needed and delivers the full available speed. Choose a 22kW cable only if you have a three-phase supply or use 22kW public AC chargers.

Can the Vauxhall Mokka Electric charge at 22kW?+

No. The Mokka Electric's onboard AC charger tops out at 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable on a single-phase home supply charges the car at 7.4kW, the same as a 7.4kW cable. At a 22kW public AC charger with the right cable, the car draws 11kW.

How long does the Vauxhall Mokka Electric take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW wallbox the 54kWh battery takes around seven to eight hours from empty. Starting from a typical daily charge level the overnight session is shorter. A three-pin household socket takes roughly 22 hours from empty, which is slow enough to make a dedicated wallbox well worth fitting if you use the car regularly.

What length cable works best for the Vauxhall Mokka Electric?+

A 5m cable covers the majority of home driveways without any slack to trip over. The Mokka Electric is a compact SUV, so the charging port is not unusually far from where a wallbox would typically be mounted. If your parking position is further from the socket than average, a 7m cable removes any chance of the lead pulling taut.
