Vauxhall Movano Electric
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Movano Electric+−
The Vauxhall Movano Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Vauxhall Movano Electric.
The second-generation Vauxhall Movano Electric (Gen2, STLA platform) is a large electric panel van available in the UK from 2024, representing a significant step up from the original Movano-e. It carries a 110kWh battery, charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC at up to 11kW on three phases, and uses a CCS port for DC rapid charging at up to 150kW. It is aimed at high-mileage fleet operators running routes where a large payload and long range between charges matter.
AC charging at wallboxes and public charge points uses a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, which you supply. The onboard AC charger is three-phase at 11kW, a step above the single-phase 7.4kW found in many smaller vans. Rapid DC charging at up to 150kW uses the charge point's own tethered CCS cable. For the biggest single daily mileage, DC fast charging is the tool; for depot overnight replenishment, AC is practical and inexpensive.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Movano Electric need?
The Gen2 Movano Electric's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW across three phases. Most UK domestic and many smaller commercial sites run single-phase electricity, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable used. On a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable gives the full speed available. Depot operators with a confirmed three-phase supply get the most from a 22kW-rated cable, which allows the van to draw its full 11kW.
Even on three-phase, the van tops out at 11kW on AC: a 22kW cable carries enough capacity for 11kW and provides useful future-proofing if AC infrastructure is upgraded. For most large van operators, confirming the site's electrical provision before ordering cables is worthwhile. A 7m or 10m cable is often better suited to large van depot bays than a 5m lead, giving enough slack to reach the inlet without the cable pulling taut along the vehicle's length.
What does it cost to charge?
A full charge from empty on the 110kWh battery costs roughly £8 to £9 on an off-peak fleet or EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £30 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. Fleet operators running multiple Movano Electrics should budget carefully: overnight charging on a dedicated low-rate tariff is by far the most cost-effective method and keeps the per-mile energy cost low relative to diesel equivalents. Public rapid charging is considerably more expensive and better used for mid-route top-ups on longer days. Check current business energy tariffs, as rates vary and change.

Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Vauxhall Movano Electric need?+−
The Vauxhall Movano Electric has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Vauxhall Movano Electric charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Vauxhall Movano Electric has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Vauxhall Movano Electric Gen2 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging. The 11kW three-phase onboard charger benefits from a 22kW cable if your depot has a three-phase supply; on a single-phase supply a 7.4kW cable delivers the full available speed. DC rapid charging at up to 150kW uses the charge point's own tethered CCS cable, which is not something you buy separately.
Can the Vauxhall Movano Electric Gen2 charge at 150kW?+−
Yes, on DC only. At compatible CCS rapid charge points the Gen2 Movano Electric can accept up to 150kW, using the charger's own tethered cable. On AC, the maximum rate is 11kW on a three-phase supply. No AC cable you purchase changes that ceiling, and on a single-phase supply the AC rate is capped at 7.4kW.
How long does the Vauxhall Movano Electric Gen2 take to charge overnight?+−
On an 11kW three-phase AC supply, the 110kWh battery takes around 10 hours from empty, fitting into a standard overnight depot window. On a single-phase 7.4kW supply, the same charge takes around 15 hours, which may require a partial charge strategy for high-mileage routes. DC rapid charging can replenish a significant portion of the battery in under an hour.
What cable length works best for the Vauxhall Movano Electric Gen2?+−
A 7m or 10m cable is generally better suited to a large van than a 5m lead, as the extra length provides slack to reach the inlet whatever the vehicle's position in the bay. In depot layouts where the charge post is at the front or end of a long bay, a 10m cable avoids having to position the van with unusual precision every time.
