Xpeng G6
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your G6+−
The Xpeng G6 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Xpeng G6 versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Xpeng G6, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Xpeng G6 Long Range
- Xpeng G6 Performance
- Xpeng G6 RWD Long Range
- Xpeng G6 Standard Range
- Xpeng G6 AWD Performance
Whichever G6 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Xpeng G6.
The Xpeng G6 is a mid-size electric SUV built on an 800V architecture and available in the UK from 2024. Two battery options are offered: a 66kWh pack in the Standard Range and entry RWD variants, and a larger 87.5kWh pack in the Long Range and Performance trims. Both versions use a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for rapid DC. The cable you bring for home or public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
The G6's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW across three phases. On DC the car is considerably more capable: the 66kWh variant charges at up to around 215kW, while the 87.5kWh version reaches up to 280kW, both using the station's own tethered CCS cable rather than anything you purchase separately. The 800V platform is designed to make rapid stops shorter, though AC charging speed at home is governed by the onboard charger and your household supply, not the architecture.
The 66kWh Standard Range pack fills noticeably faster than the 87.5kWh Long Range on every charging method. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the G6 need?
The G6 charges at up to 11kW on three-phase AC. Most UK homes have a single-phase supply, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable rating. For the majority of owners, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the practical choice: it delivers the full speed a standard home wallbox can provide, at a lower cost than a three-phase alternative.
A 22kW cable earns its premium only if you have a three-phase home supply or regularly stop at 22kW public AC charge points. In those situations the G6 will draw its full 11kW. On a single-phase setup, upgrading the cable does not change charging speed: the supply, not the cable, is the limiting factor.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 87.5kWh Long Range battery from empty costs roughly £6 to £7 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £24 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The Standard Range 66kWh pack costs closer to £5 at off-peak rates, or around £18 at the standard rate. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is consistently the cheapest option. Public rapid charging at 45p to 80p per kWh is expensive as a habit, best kept for longer journeys. Check current tariffs, as rates change.

Xpeng G6 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Xpeng G6 charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Xpeng G6 has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Xpeng G6 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The G6 uses a standard Type 2 AC inlet. A 5m cable suits most drives; choose 7m or 10m if there is distance between your wallbox and where the car sits. For a single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW cable gives the full available speed.
Can the Xpeng G6 charge at 22kW on AC?+−
No. The G6's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, so 11kW is the maximum AC rate whatever cable you connect. On a typical single-phase UK home supply that rate drops to 7.4kW, set by the supply rather than the car or cable. A 22kW cable adds nothing on a single-phase setup.
How long does the Xpeng G6 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 87.5kWh Long Range takes around 12 hours from empty, comfortably overnight. The 66kWh Standard Range takes around 9 hours at the same rate. On a three-phase 11kW charger both are around two hours quicker. A 3-pin granny cable is far slower and is best kept as a backup option.
What length cable do I need for the Xpeng G6?+−
A 5m cable is sufficient for most driveways when the wallbox is close to where the car parks. If your wallbox is set further back, or the charging inlet ends up on the far side of the car from the socket, a 7m or 10m lead gives you more flexibility without having to reposition the car.
