Why this fits your G9+

The Xpeng G9 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Xpeng G9 versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Xpeng G9, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Xpeng G9 RWD Long Range
  • Xpeng G9 AWD Performance
  • Xpeng G9 RWD Standard Range

Whichever G9 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Xpeng G9.

The Xpeng G9 is a large electric SUV positioned at the top of Xpeng's UK lineup, with deliveries expected from late 2026. It carries a 93kWh usable battery, a considerable capacity suited to the car's size. Like other modern European-market EVs, it charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for rapid DC. The lead you supply for day-to-day top-ups at home or on public AC charge points is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.

Xpeng rates the G9's onboard AC charger at 11kW on three phases. For DC rapid sessions the G9 can accept up to around 300kW, using the station's own tethered CCS cable rather than any lead you carry. The 800V architecture behind that DC speed does not affect AC charging: what matters at home is the 11kW onboard charger and your household supply.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the G9 need?

With an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, the G9 is ready to use the full output of a 22kW public AC point or a three-phase home supply. But the majority of UK homes run on single-phase electricity, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW no matter what cable or wallbox you fit. For those owners, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable covers everything a standard home setup can deliver and costs less than its three-phase equivalent.

A three-phase 22kW rated cable makes sense if you have a three-phase home supply, or if you regularly charge at 22kW AC public charge points. In those cases the G9 will pull its full 11kW. On a single-phase supply the cable rating is irrelevant to speed: a cheaper 7.4kW lead and a pricier 22kW one charge at exactly the same rate.

What does it cost to charge?

Topping up the 93kWh battery from empty costs roughly £7 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, rising to around £25 at a standard domestic rate of around 27p per kWh. A dedicated overnight EV tariff makes a large battery like this far more affordable to run. Public rapid charging, which often costs 45p to 80p per kWh, is useful on long routes but expensive as routine. Always check current tariff rates before planning a charging budget.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Xpeng G9 need?+

The Xpeng G9 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Xpeng G9 need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 lead for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The G9 uses a Type 2 AC inlet. A 5m cable works for most driveway setups; consider 7m or 10m if your wallbox is further from where the car parks. On a standard single-phase supply, a 7.4kW cable gives the full available home charging speed.

Can the Xpeng G9 charge at 22kW?+

Not quite. The G9's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, making that the AC ceiling regardless of charger or cable rating. At a 22kW public AC point the car will draw 11kW, not 22kW. On a typical single-phase home supply the rate is lower still, capped at 7.4kW by the supply.

How long does the Xpeng G9 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 93kWh battery takes around 13 hours from empty to a full charge. On a three-phase 11kW charger that reduces to around 9 hours. Either way, overnight charging covers the battery comfortably for a full day's driving. DC rapid charging is handled by the station's own tethered cable and is a different process entirely.

What length cable do I need for the Xpeng G9?+

A 5m cable is adequate if your wallbox is close to where the G9 parks on your driveway. For setups where the socket is further away, or where the cable needs to cross more of the car's length, a 7m or 10m lead removes any tension and makes plugging in easier day to day.
