Why this fits your 001+

The Zeekr 001 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Zeekr 001.

The Zeekr 001 is a large electric shooting brake estate, a distinctive low-roofline body style that makes it one of the more unusual choices in the UK's growing BEV market. It carries around 95kWh of usable battery capacity and comes to the UK from 2024. Charging uses a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions. The cable you bring for home and public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The 001 stands out for its AC charging rate: the onboard charger is rated at 22kW across three phases, which is considerably higher than the 11kW typical of most BEVs sold in the UK today. On DC the car supports up to 400kW, making it one of the fastest-charging vehicles when matched to compatible ultra-rapid hardware. DC charging uses the station's own tethered CCS cable rather than a lead you supply.

The 001's 22kW AC capability is useful at compatible public charge points, but requires a three-phase supply to use in full. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the 001 need?

The 001 is unusual in that its onboard AC charger is rated at 22kW, not the more common 11kW. However, fully using that rate requires a three-phase power supply at home, which is uncommon in UK residential properties. On a standard single-phase home supply, AC charging is still capped at 7.4kW whatever cable or wallbox you install. For most 001 owners, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable covers day-to-day home charging completely.

Where the 22kW capability earns its place is at compatible public AC charge points or at a three-phase home supply: the 001 will draw the full 22kW in those situations, which at 95kWh gives a meaningful speed advantage over cars limited to 11kW. If you have three-phase power at home or regularly use 22kW public AC chargers, a 32A three-phase Type 2 cable is worth having. Otherwise, a 7.4kW cable is the practical daily option.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 95kWh battery from empty costs roughly £7 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £26 on a standard domestic rate of around 27p per kWh. An overnight EV tariff keeps running costs manageable despite the large pack. Public rapid charging at the 001's DC speeds is attractive for long journeys, but at 45p to 80p per kWh it is expensive as a routine. Check current tariff rates, as they change.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Zeekr 001 need?+

The Zeekr 001 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 22kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Zeekr 001 need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The 001 uses a standard Type 2 AC inlet. For most UK homes on a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW cable gives the full available home charging rate. If you have a three-phase home supply, a 32A three-phase cable lets the car draw up to 22kW. A 5m length suits most driveways; go longer if your wallbox is set further back.

Can the Zeekr 001 charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the 001's onboard AC charger supports 22kW on a three-phase supply, which is higher than most EVs. But three-phase home supplies are uncommon in the UK. On a standard single-phase home, charging is capped at 7.4kW by the supply. At 22kW public AC chargers the car uses its full rate, which is a real advantage when one is available.

How long does the Zeekr 001 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 95kWh battery takes around 13 to 14 hours from empty. On a three-phase 22kW supply that drops to roughly 4 to 5 hours, a significant difference. Most owners will rely on overnight single-phase charging at home and use the car's fast DC capability on longer trips, where the station's own tethered CCS cable handles the session.

What length cable do I need for the Zeekr 001?+

A 5m cable works for most driveways where the wallbox sits close to where the car parks. If there is a longer run from the socket to the car's inlet, a 7m or 10m lead gives comfortable reach without tension on the cable. Choose the length based on your parking layout, as the 001's port location will vary depending on how you position the car.
