Did you add the optional 22kW charger?

The A390 is 11kW three-phase as standard. The optional 22kW charger charges faster on a three-phase supply. The 22kW cable is the right one either way.

Why this fits your A390+

The Alpine A390 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Alpine A390 versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Alpine A390, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Alpine A390 GT
  • Alpine A390 GTS
  • Alpine A390 Premiere Edition

Whichever A390 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Alpine A390.

The Alpine A390 is a premium electric SUV arriving in the UK from 2026, offered in GT, GTS, and Premiere Edition trims. It carries an 89kWh battery and plugs in via a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for rapid DC sessions that can take the battery from 15 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes at up to 190kW.

For home and public AC charging, the cable you supply is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The A390 features bidirectional 11kW three-phase AC as standard, and the GT and GTS can be optioned with 22kW AC, with the Premiere Edition receiving it as standard. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you purchase.

GT and GTS can be optioned to 22kW AC; Premiere Edition includes 22kW as standard. Check your trim before choosing a cable. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the A390 need?

Most A390 trims leave the factory with an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, with 22kW available on some variants. For UK home charging the critical point is that standard domestic supplies are single-phase, capping any wallbox at 7.4kW. If your home has a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable maximises your driveway charging speed and is the right cable to start with.

If your A390 has the 22kW upgrade and you have access to a three-phase supply or visit 22kW public AC charge points regularly, a 22kW three-phase Type 2 cable lets the car charge at its full AC rate. On a standard single-phase home connection the cable rating makes no difference to charging speed, so confirm your supply and trim spec before spending more on a higher-rated cable.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 89kWh battery from empty costs roughly £7 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £24 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Charging overnight on a dedicated EV tariff keeps the A390's running costs reasonable. Public DC rapid charging is considerably more expensive per kWh and is better suited to long journeys than daily top-ups. Check current energy tariffs, as rates change.

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Alpine A390 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. Standard trims charge at up to 11kW on three phases; GT and GTS can be optioned for 22kW, and the Premiere Edition includes it. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered cable. A 5m lead covers most parking situations.

Can the Alpine A390 charge at 22kW?+

Depending on trim. GT and GTS can be specified with a 22kW AC charger as an option, and the Premiere Edition includes it as standard. To use that speed you also need a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC point. On a standard single-phase home wallbox the car draws 7.4kW regardless of its onboard charger rating.

How long does the Alpine A390 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 89kWh battery charges from empty in roughly 12 hours, which suits an overnight session. On a three-phase 11kW wallbox that falls to around 8 hours, and on a 22kW supply to around 4 hours for suitably equipped variants. DC rapid charging reaches 15 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes.

Does the Alpine A390 support DC rapid charging?+

Yes, at up to 190kW on a compatible DC rapid charger, taking the battery from 15 to 80 percent in around 25 minutes. That session uses the charger's own tethered CCS cable. For home and public AC charging you bring your own Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
