Audi A6 e-tron
Charging cable
The A6 e-tron is 11kW three-phase as standard. The optional 22kW charger charges faster on a three-phase supply. The 22kW cable is the right one either way.
Charges about 195% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your A6 e-tron+−
The Audi A6 e-tron has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Audi A6 e-tron versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Audi A6 e-tron, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Audi A6 e-tron Sport
- Audi A6 e-tron S Line
- Audi A6 e-tron Edition 1
- Audi A6 e-tron Avant Sport
- Audi A6 e-tron Avant S Line
- Audi A6 e-tron Sport Quattro
Whichever A6 e-tron trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

Charging
the Audi A6 e-tron.
The Audi A6 e-tron is a fully electric executive saloon, built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and arriving in the UK from 2024. It is available as a saloon and the Avant estate, with a choice of battery sizes: the base rear-wheel-drive model uses a 75.8kWh pack, while the quattro and performance variants use a 94.9kWh usable battery. Both versions plug in via a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for rapid DC sessions.
For home wallboxes and public AC charge points the cable you supply is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The A6 e-tron's standard onboard AC charger runs at 11kW on three phases, with 22kW available as an option. DC rapid charging reaches up to around 270kW on the larger battery and around 225kW on the smaller, using the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you purchase.
Select your variant above. The 75.8kWh model charges from empty to full noticeably faster on AC. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the A6 e-tron need?
The A6 e-tron comes with an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger as standard, and 22kW is available as an option. On a standard UK single-phase home supply the effective rate is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the onboard charger or cable rating. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable gives most owners everything they need at home and is the practical default choice.
If your A6 e-tron has the optional 22kW AC charger and you have access to a three-phase supply or visit 22kW public AC charge points, a three-phase cable lets the car charge at its full AC rate. Even without the 22kW option, a three-phase cable on an 11kW supply charges the 75.8kWh battery in around 7 hours and the 94.9kWh in around 9 hours, versus roughly 10 and 13 hours respectively on a single-phase 7.4kW connection.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 75.8kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6 at an off-peak rate of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £21 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The 94.9kWh quattro costs roughly £7 at off-peak and around £26 at standard rates. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff keeps the A6 e-tron affordable to run. Public DC rapid charging is far dearer per kWh and suits long journeys rather than daily top-ups. Check current tariff rates.

Audi A6 e-tron FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Audi A6 e-tron need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The A6 e-tron charges at up to 11kW standard (22kW optional) on AC and uses CCS for DC rapid charging. DC sessions use the charger's own tethered cable. A 5m Type 2 lead suits most home driveways; 7m or 10m if your socket is further away.
Can the Audi A6 e-tron charge at 22kW?+−
Only if the optional 22kW AC charger is fitted, and only on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC post. The standard car tops out at 11kW. On a typical single-phase UK home wallbox the rate is 7.4kW regardless of whether the 22kW option is fitted.
How long does the Audi A6 e-tron take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 75.8kWh battery takes around 10 hours from empty, and the 94.9kWh around 13 hours. On an 11kW three-phase wallbox those drop to around 7 and 9 hours. With the optional 22kW charger on a three-phase supply, the 94.9kWh fills in around 4.5 hours.
Does the Audi A6 e-tron support DC rapid charging?+−
Yes. The 75.8kWh model supports up to around 225kW DC, and the 94.9kWh quattro up to around 270kW. DC sessions use the charger's own tethered CCS cable rather than one you buy. The 800V PPE architecture means rapid charging is relatively quick, and preconditioning the battery in cold weather helps reach the peak rate.
