Why this fits your e-tron GT+

The Audi e-tron GT has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Audi e-tron GT versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Audi e-tron GT, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Audi e-tron GT quattro
  • Audi e-tron GT RS
  • Audi e-tron GT Vorsprung

Whichever e-tron GT trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Audi e-tron GT.

The Audi e-tron GT is a four-door electric gran turismo saloon, sharing its 800-volt PPE architecture with the Porsche Taycan. On sale in the UK since 2021, it is available in standard quattro, RS, and flagship Vorsprung trims, all drawing on roughly 84kWh usable from a 93.4kWh gross battery. DC rapid charging at up to 270kW makes it one of the fastest-charging vehicles currently available, capable of adding around 100 miles in roughly 5 minutes at a suitable charger.

AC charging at home or at public AC points uses a Type 2 inlet, and the cable you carry is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The standard onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, with a 22kW option available on certain variants. DC rapid charging at up to 270kW is handled by the charger's own tethered CCS cable; you do not need to buy one for rapid sessions.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the e-tron GT need?

At home the relevant ceiling is the supply, not the e-tron GT. UK domestic connections are single-phase and limited to 7.4kW, so a 7.4kW Type 2 lead delivers the full speed your home wallbox can provide. The e-tron GT's 11kW onboard AC charger only reaches its potential on a three-phase supply, which is uncommon in UK residential properties.

A three-phase-rated cable is worth considering if you have a three-phase home supply or regularly charge at 22kW public AC stations, where the e-tron GT will draw its full 11kW. Variants with the optional 22kW charger can take advantage of the full output at compatible stations. On any single-phase home connection, however, a three-phase cable delivers no speed benefit at all. Given that DC rapid charging is where the e-tron GT truly excels for longer trips, the home cable question mostly comes down to overnight convenience rather than raw speed.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 84kWh usable battery from empty costs roughly £6 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £23 at a standard daytime rate of around 27p per kWh. The e-tron GT's 800V architecture means DC rapid charging is dramatically fast, but public rapid chargers cost significantly more per kWh, often 45p to 80p or above. Home overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the most cost-effective daily routine. Check current tariff rates.

Good

Contact us
What charging cable does the Audi e-tron GT need?+

The Audi e-tron GT has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

Can the Audi e-tron GT charge at 22kW?+

As standard the Audi e-tron GT has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger; the optional 22kW charger lets it charge at up to 22kW on a three-phase supply. Either way it uses the same 22kW three-phase cable.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Audi e-tron GT need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. The e-tron GT's AC inlet is Type 2, rated at 11kW on three phases (22kW optional). For most UK owners on a single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW Type 2 lead is the practical choice. DC rapid charging at up to 270kW uses the station's own tethered CCS cable, not one you carry.

Can the Audi e-tron GT charge at 22kW AC?+

Only with the optional 22kW onboard charger fitted, and only at a 22kW three-phase public AC station with a three-phase-capable cable. The standard model is limited to 11kW AC on three phases. On a single-phase home supply the ceiling is 7.4kW for all variants. The e-tron GT's real high-speed charging story is DC, where it can accept up to 270kW.

How long does an Audi e-tron GT take to charge at home?+

On a typical 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, charging the 84kWh battery from empty takes around 11 to 12 hours, fitting neatly overnight. On a three-phase 11kW supply that drops to roughly 8 hours. At a 270kW DC rapid charger, charge times are measured in minutes rather than hours, but that is via the charger's own cable and is most useful on long trips.

What length cable do I need for the Audi e-tron GT?+

A 5m cable suits most home driveways and is easy to manage on a low-slung saloon. If your wallbox is positioned further from your usual parking spot, a 7m lead adds useful reach. The e-tron GT is a long car, so it is worth checking the distance from the socket to where the inlet will be before assuming a 5m cable always reaches.
