Why this fits your Atto 3 EVO+

The BYD Atto 3 EVO has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which BYD Atto 3 EVO versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every BYD Atto 3 EVO, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • BYD Atto 3 EVO Active
  • BYD Atto 3 EVO Comfort
  • BYD Atto 3 EVO Design
  • BYD Atto 3 EVO Excellence

Whichever Atto 3 EVO trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the BYD Atto 3 EVO.

The BYD Atto 3 EVO is the heavily updated version of BYD's compact electric SUV, arriving in the UK from 2026 with a single 76kWh Blade LFP battery (74.8kWh usable) and a strong 220kW peak DC charging capability. It spans four trim levels, from Active through to Excellence, with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. Both the Type 2 AC inlet and the CCS DC port are standard across the range.

The cable you use for home charging or public AC sessions is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The Atto 3 EVO's onboard AC charger handles up to 11kW across three phases. DC rapid charging at up to 220kW peak (averaging around 130kW across a 10-to-80 per cent session) uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable: that is not something you carry yourself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Atto 3 EVO need?

With a 76kWh battery and an 11kW onboard charger, the Atto 3 EVO benefits from a reliable overnight charge more than most compact EVs. On a standard UK single-phase home supply the cap is 7.4kW whatever cable you plug in, and a 7.4kW Type 2 lead covers that fully. At that speed the battery takes around ten to eleven hours from empty, which suits an overnight session with time to spare.

A 22kW-rated cable has a clearer argument here than on smaller cars. If you make long trips and regularly park at three-phase 22kW public AC charge points, the Atto 3 EVO can pull its full 11kW there, cutting top-up time compared with a 7.4kW lead. At home on a single-phase supply the speed is identical either way. It comes down to how often you use those public three-phase points in practice, rather than optimistic future-proofing.

A 5m cable suits most driveway layouts. For longer runs from a wall-mounted box to where the car sits, or if the charging inlet ends up on the far side from the socket, a 7m or 10m lead avoids pulling the cable under tension.

What does it cost to charge?

Topping up the 76kWh Blade battery from empty costs roughly £6 at an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £21 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Given the larger pack, charging on a dedicated off-peak overnight tariff makes a noticeable difference to running costs month on month. Public rapid charging typically runs 45p to 80p per kWh and is best kept for long trips rather than daily routine. Tariffs change, so confirm current rates before budgeting.

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

Does the BYD Atto 3 EVO support V2L?+

Yes. The BYD Atto 3 EVO supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.

What charging cable does the BYD Atto 3 EVO need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. For most UK owners on a single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW cable delivers the full speed available at home. A 22kW three-phase cable is worth considering if you regularly use 22kW public AC chargers, where the Atto 3 EVO can draw its full 11kW onboard rate.

Can the BYD Atto 3 EVO charge at 22kW?+

No. The Atto 3 EVO's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, so 22kW is not achievable whatever cable you connect. At a 22kW three-phase public AC point it will draw up to 11kW; on a standard UK single-phase home wallbox the ceiling is 7.4kW. A higher-rated cable cannot override the car's onboard charger limit.

How long does the BYD Atto 3 EVO take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 76kWh battery takes roughly ten to eleven hours from empty, making it a natural overnight charge. On a three-phase 11kW supply the time drops to around seven hours. A standard granny cable on a household socket would take over thirty hours and is better kept as a backup.

What length cable do I need for the BYD Atto 3 EVO?+

A 5m cable handles the majority of home setups. If there is a large gap between your wallbox and where the car parks, or the charging port ends up on the far side of the vehicle from the socket, a 7m or 10m cable gives you the reach without repositioning.
