Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Seal 6 Saloon+−
The BYD Seal 6 Saloon has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the BYD Seal 6 Saloon.
The BYD Seal 6 Saloon is a plug-in hybrid saloon on sale in the UK from 2025 in the first-generation Mk1 form. Two battery configurations are available: the Comfort trim carries a 19kWh Blade LFP battery with both AC and DC charging, while the Boost trim uses a smaller 10.08kWh battery that is AC-only with a lower 3.3kW charge rate. Both use a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need for home wallboxes and public AC charge points is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
On the Comfort trim's 19kWh battery, AC charging runs at up to 6.6kW on a single phase, and DC rapid charging is available at up to 26kW via a CCS port, with a 30 to 80 percent charge estimated at around 23 minutes. The Boost trim does not support DC charging. As with all DC rapid charging, the station's own tethered cable handles the connection.
The Boost trim has no DC port and a lower 3.3kW AC rate. The Comfort trim charges at 6.6kW AC and up to 26kW DC. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Seal 6 Saloon need?
The Comfort trim's 6.6kW AC charge rate sits within the reach of a standard single-phase UK home supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right match: it supports the full 6.6kW the Comfort can draw, works with any UK wallbox or public AC charge point, and requires no three-phase supply. The Boost trim charges at a lower 3.3kW, so a 7.4kW cable is similarly appropriate there.
There is no benefit to a three-phase cable on the Seal 6 Saloon, as neither trim's onboard charger exceeds single-phase capacity. A standard 7.4kW Type 2 lead covers both variants without compromise. Five metres suits most home driveways, with longer options available if the cable needs to reach further.
What does it cost to charge?
Topping up the Comfort's 19kWh battery from empty costs roughly £1 to £2 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £5 at a standard domestic rate of around 27p per kWh. The Boost's 10.08kWh battery costs under £1 off-peak and around £3 at standard rates. As a PHEV, the Seal 6 Saloon pairs the battery with a combustion engine for longer distances, keeping daily charging costs modest. Check current tariffs for accuracy.

BYD Seal 6 Saloon FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the BYD Seal 6 Saloon need?+−
The BYD Seal 6 Saloon has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.
Can the BYD Seal 6 Saloon charge at 22kW?+−
No, the BYD Seal 6 Saloon has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
Does the BYD Seal 6 Saloon support V2L?+−
Yes. The BYD Seal 6 Saloon supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.
What cable does the BYD Seal 6 Saloon need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for both variants. The Seal 6 Saloon uses a Type 2 AC inlet, matching UK home wallboxes and public AC charge points. A 7.4kW cable works for both the Comfort (6.6kW AC) and the Boost (3.3kW AC). No three-phase cable is needed for either trim.
Can the BYD Seal 6 Saloon rapid charge on DC?+−
Only on the Comfort trim. The 19kWh Comfort version has a CCS DC port and charges at up to 26kW, with a 30 to 80 percent charge in around 23 minutes. The Boost trim has no DC port. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered cable, not the Type 2 lead you carry.
How long does the BYD Seal 6 Saloon take to charge at home?+−
The Comfort's 19kWh battery charges at 6.6kW on a wallbox, taking around 3 hours from empty. The Boost's 10.08kWh battery charges at 3.3kW, taking around 3 to 3.5 hours from empty. Both are manageable overnight or during a parked afternoon. A three-pin socket is a slower but workable backup for either.
Is the BYD Seal 6 Saloon the same as the Seal 6 Touring?+−
They share the same powertrain and battery options but are different body styles. The Saloon has a traditional three-box saloon shape; the Touring is an estate variant with extra load space. Charging cables and specs are identical, so the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits both.
