Citroen e-C4
Charging cable
The e-C4 is single-phase 7.4kW as standard. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, you need the 22kW cable to use it.
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your e-C4+−
The Citroen e-C4 has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7.4kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Citroen e-C4.
The Citroen e-C4 is a distinctive electric hatchback with a fastback-inspired roofline, on sale in the UK from 2021. It carries a 50kWh battery in early versions, with later models updated to a 54kWh pack. The charging inlet is Type 2, the standard for European EVs, alongside a CCS port for DC rapid charging.
Charging at home or at public AC points uses a Type 2 to Type 2 cable that you supply yourself. The e-C4's onboard AC charger is rated at 7.4kW as standard, with an optional upgrade to 11kW three-phase on some models. DC rapid charging at up to 100kW is handled through the charger's own tethered CCS cable rather than a portable lead.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the e-C4 need?
The e-C4's standard onboard AC charger tops out at 7.4kW on a single-phase supply. On a typical UK home wallbox that means 7.4kW is the maximum available speed, so a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is all you need. A 5m length covers most driveways and standard public parking bays without excess cable to manage.
If your e-C4 has the optional 11kW three-phase onboard charger and you have access to either a three-phase home supply or a 22kW public AC charger, a 22kW rated cable allows the car to pull its full 11kW at those points. On a standard single-phase home setup the speed stays at 7.4kW regardless, so there is no practical benefit in the higher-rated cable unless your charging locations genuinely support three-phase.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling a 54kWh battery from empty costs roughly £4 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £14.50 at a standard rate of about 27p per kWh. The 50kWh version works out slightly cheaper per full charge. Home charging overnight on an off-peak tariff is the most economical approach. Check current tariff rates, as these change.

Citroen e-C4 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Citroen e-C4 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The standard onboard charger is rated at 7.4kW single-phase, so a 7.4kW cable at 5m is the right choice for most owners. Some e-C4 models have an optional 11kW three-phase charger, but this only helps if you have a matching supply.
Can the Citroen e-C4 charge at 22kW?+−
No. Even with the optional 11kW three-phase onboard charger, the e-C4 cannot draw more than 11kW from any AC source. A 22kW cable will not speed things up beyond that ceiling. On a standard UK single-phase home supply, charging is capped at 7.4kW whatever the cable rating.
How long does the Citroen e-C4 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 54kWh battery takes around seven and a half hours from empty and the 50kWh version around seven hours, both working out as comfortable overnight charges. A 3-pin granny cable is much slower and is only recommended as an occasional backup rather than a regular charging method.
What length cable do I need for the Citroen e-C4?+−
A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 cable is a good match for most home driveways and public charge points. If your wallbox is set back from where you typically park, or the inlet on your particular car is further from the socket than expected, a 7m cable gives extra reach and removes the need to reposition the car every time.
