DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense
Charging cable
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is single-phase 7.4kW as standard. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, you need the 22kW cable to use it.
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your DS 3 Crossback E-Tense+−
The DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

Charging
the DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense.
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is a first-generation compact electric SUV sold by DS from 2019 to around 2022, when it was updated and renamed the DS 3 E-Tense. Built on a 50kWh battery with a single-speed electric motor, it was DS's first battery-electric model in the UK and offered a WLTP range in the region of 200 miles. It uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for rapid DC charging.
For wallboxes and public AC points, the cable you supply is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The standard onboard AC charger is rated at 7.4kW on a single phase. Some earlier trim levels could be specified with an optional 11kW three-phase charger. On DC the car can accept up to 100kW from a rapid charger, using the charger's own tethered cable.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense need?
The DS 3 Crossback E-Tense's standard 7.4kW onboard charger is single-phase, so a 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right match for most owners. It delivers the car's full AC charging rate on any single-phase home wallbox, which is the vast majority of UK domestic installations. If your car has the optional 11kW three-phase charger, a 22kW cable would be needed to reach that rate at a three-phase AC point.
For the overwhelming majority of DS 3 Crossback owners with a standard 7.4kW setup, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable of 5m is the practical, cost-effective choice. It fills the 50kWh battery in roughly 7 hours, comfortably overnight. A 22kW-rated cable only adds value if you have a three-phase supply or use 22kW public AC points regularly, as it will not charge any faster at home on a single-phase supply.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 50kWh battery from empty costs roughly £3.75 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £13.50 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff keeps the cost low and suits the DS 3 Crossback's typical daily commute use. Public rapid charging is more expensive, often 45p to 80p per kWh, so it is best reserved for longer journeys. Always check current tariff rates.

Contact usWhat charging cable does the DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense need?+−
The DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense charge at 22kW?+−
Only with the optional three-phase onboard charger. The DS DS 3 Crossback E-Tense is single-phase 7.4kW as standard, so a 7.4kW cable delivers its full AC speed. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, choose the 22kW three-phase cable to use it.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The standard car has a 7.4kW single-phase AC charger, so a 7.4kW cable delivers the full home-charging rate. Some early variants were offered with an optional 11kW charger; owners of those should consider a 22kW cable if they use three-phase public AC points.
Can the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense charge at 22kW?+−
Only if your car has the optional 11kW three-phase onboard charger and you are connected to a three-phase AC supply. Standard cars are limited to 7.4kW. Even with the optional charger, the car draws 11kW, not 22kW. A 22kW cable rating just means the cable can handle that load safely.
How long does the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW wallbox, the 50kWh battery takes around 7 hours from empty, making overnight charging straightforward. On a standard 3-pin socket at roughly 2.3kW, expect around 22 to 24 hours from empty, which is impractical as a regular method but adequate as a backup for a small top-up.
Does the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense support rapid DC charging?+−
Yes, up to 100kW on a CCS rapid charger. Rapid chargers have their own tethered cable, so you do not need to buy one. For home and public AC charging, you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. A 5m cable is a practical length for most driveways and public charge point bays.
