Why this fits your No8+

The DS No8 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which DS No8 versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every DS No8, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • DS No8 Etoile 230
  • DS No8 Pallas 230
  • DS No8 Jules Verne
  • DS No8 Etoile 245 Long Range
  • DS No8 Pallas 245 Long Range
  • DS No8 Etoile 350 AWD Long Range

Whichever No8 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the DS No8.

The DS No8 is DS's flagship fully electric SUV, launched in 2025 and built on the STLA Medium 400V platform. It is offered in two main battery configurations: a standard 74kWh pack and a larger 97.2kWh Long Range version. The range spans rear-wheel-drive single-motor and four-wheel-drive AWD variants, with WLTP figures stretching well past 300 miles on the Long Range. Charging uses a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid power.

For home and public AC charging you bring your own Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The standard onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, with a 22kW option available on certain specifications. DC rapid charging is supported at up to 160kW, and the charger's own tethered lead is used for that, not a cable you purchase. Confirming which charger your trim includes is worthwhile before buying a cable.

DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered cable. Your Type 2 cable is for AC home and public charging. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the No8 need?

Most UK owners on a standard single-phase home supply will charge the DS No8 at 7.4kW, whatever cable rating they choose. The No8's 11kW onboard charger exceeds what single-phase can deliver, so on a typical home wallbox a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the sensible starting point: it gives the full single-phase rate and works on all public Type 2 AC sockets.

If your home has a three-phase supply, or your No8 is specified with the optional 22kW charger and you use 22kW public AC stations, a 22kW Type 2 cable lets the car pull its full 11kW or more at those points. On a standard single-phase driveway the 22kW cable offers no speed gain. Given the large Long Range battery, even at 7.4kW an overnight charge from low to full is comfortably achievable.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the standard 74kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5.50 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £20 at a standard rate. The Long Range 97.2kWh costs roughly £7.30 off-peak and around £26 at standard rates. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the most cost-effective routine. Public DC rapid charging can run to 45p to 80p per kWh, so it is best used selectively. Always check current tariff rates.

Contact us
What charging cable does the DS No8 need?+

The DS No8 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the DS No8 need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Standard models have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger; some trims offer 22kW. On a UK single-phase home supply you will draw 7.4kW regardless, so a 7.4kW cable is the right choice for most owners. If you have a three-phase supply, a 22kW cable unlocks the full 11kW or higher AC rate.

Can the DS No8 charge at 22kW?+

Only if your trim is fitted with the optional 22kW onboard charger and you are connected to a three-phase 22kW AC supply. The standard 11kW charger cannot exceed 11kW on AC. On a typical UK single-phase home supply, all variants charge at 7.4kW. A 22kW cable is necessary but not sufficient on its own.

How long does the DS No8 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the standard 74kWh battery takes around 10 to 11 hours from empty and the Long Range 97.2kWh around 13 to 14 hours. Both are comfortably covered by overnight charging. At 11kW on a three-phase supply those times drop to roughly 7 and 9 hours respectively.

What is the difference between the DS No8 standard and Long Range battery?+

The standard 74kWh pack suits owners with shorter daily mileage or good access to charging. The 97.2kWh Long Range extends the real-world range considerably and suits higher-mileage or longer-journey drivers. Both share the same 160kW DC rapid charging ceiling, so the Long Range takes proportionally longer to fill at a rapid charger but the same cable fits either.
