Fiat 500e
Charging cable
The 500e is single-phase 7.4kW as standard. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, you need the 22kW cable to use it.
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your 500e+−
The Fiat 500e has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Fiat 500e versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Fiat 500e, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Fiat 500e Action
- Fiat 500e Passion
- Fiat 500e Icon
- Fiat 500e La Prima
Whichever 500e trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Fiat 500e.
The Fiat 500e is the third-generation electric 500, a compact city hatchback produced from 2020 and sold in the UK in two distinct battery sizes. The entry-level Action trim uses a 24kWh battery with up to 50kW DC rapid charging, while the Passion, Icon, and La Prima trims use a larger 42kWh pack with up to 85kW DC. All versions charge through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid charging.
For charging at home or at a public AC point, the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The standard 500e has a 7.4kW single-phase onboard charger, though some trims are available with an optional 11kW three-phase charger. DC rapid charging, which uses the charger's own tethered cable, is where the 500e picks up speed: the larger-battery models can accept up to 85kW.
The Action's smaller battery charges noticeably faster on AC. Both versions use CCS for DC rapid charging, which uses the charger's own cable. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the 500e need?
Most 500e owners have the standard 7.4kW single-phase onboard charger. On a typical UK home supply, this is also the maximum the wallbox delivers, so a 7.4kW Type 2 cable is all you need and gives the car its full home charging speed. The 42kWh battery takes under six hours from empty at that rate, easily filling overnight.
If your 500e has the optional 11kW three-phase charger, it can draw 11kW when connected to a three-phase 22kW public AC point. Most UK homes are single-phase, so the upgrade only pays off at compatible public chargers. On a single-phase home supply the 11kW-equipped car still charges at 7.4kW, same as the standard car. A 22kW rated cable rather than a 7.4kW cable is worth considering only if you regularly use those 22kW AC points.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the larger 42kWh battery from empty costs roughly £3 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £11 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The 24kWh Action costs around £2 or £6 respectively. As a compact city car, daily top-ups are small and home overnight charging keeps it inexpensive to run. Check current tariff rates, as these change.

Fiat 500e FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Fiat 500e need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC points. The standard 500e charges at 7.4kW on a single phase, so a 7.4kW cable is the right choice. If you have the optional 11kW three-phase charger, a 22kW cable is worth considering for use at three-phase public AC points.
Can the Fiat 500e charge at 22kW?+−
Not on the standard model. The standard 500e has a 7.4kW single-phase onboard charger and cannot charge faster than 7.4kW on AC. Some models were offered with an optional 11kW three-phase charger, which can draw 11kW on a three-phase supply. No version reaches 22kW.
How long does the Fiat 500e take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW wallbox, the 42kWh battery takes around six hours from empty to full. The 24kWh Action fills in roughly three and a half hours. Overnight charging easily covers both. DC rapid charging is much quicker but uses the charger's own cable at the rapid charging station.
What is the difference between the Fiat 500e Action and the standard 500e battery?+−
The Action uses a 24kWh battery with up to 50kW DC rapid charging and is aimed at shorter urban trips. The Passion, Icon, and La Prima use a 42kWh battery with up to 85kW DC, giving noticeably more range. Both use the same Type 2 AC inlet and the same cable for home or public AC charging.
