Genesis G80 Electrified
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your G80 Electrified+−
The Genesis G80 Electrified has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Genesis G80 Electrified.
The Genesis G80 Electrified is the battery-electric version of Genesis's flagship executive saloon, on sale since 2021. It shares Hyundai Group's 800-volt electrical architecture, which gives it access to DC rapid charging at up to 240kW at compatible ultra-rapid charge points. The 87.2kWh battery provides substantial range for a large premium saloon. AC charging at home and public wallboxes uses a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you supply is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
The G80 Electrified's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. That is the upper limit for any AC session: the 800-volt DC capability only applies to CCS rapid charging via the charge point's own tethered hardware. When it comes to the cable you carry, the key question is whether your home supply is single-phase or three-phase, because that determines the practical maximum you will see at home.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the G80 Electrified need?
For home and public AC charging the G80 Electrified needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Its onboard AC charger supports up to 11kW on three phases, but on a single-phase supply, which covers the great majority of UK homes, AC charging is limited to 7.4kW whatever cable you attach. At 7.4kW the 87.2kWh battery takes around twelve hours from empty, which is on the longer side for overnight charging but still manageable if you plug in soon after arriving home.
Three-phase access changes the picture considerably: at 11kW the same battery charges in around eight hours, giving a more comfortable overnight buffer. Executive saloon owners who work from offices with three-phase charge points or who have a three-phase domestic supply should opt for a three-phase cable to make the most of the G80's AC capability. For purely single-phase home use a 7.4kW cable is correct and sufficient.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 87.2kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6.50 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £23.50 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Compared with the fuel costs of a similarly specified diesel or petrol executive saloon, home overnight charging represents a significant saving over time. Public rapid charging is far more expensive per kWh and is best treated as a convenience for longer trips. Always check current energy tariffs.

Genesis G80 Electrified FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
Does the Genesis G80 Electrified support V2L?+−
Yes. The Genesis G80 Electrified supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.
What charging cable does the Genesis G80 Electrified need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The G80 Electrified has a Type 2 AC inlet and an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable is the practical choice for a standard single-phase home supply. On a three-phase supply a higher-rated cable unlocks the full 11kW AC rate.
How long does the Genesis G80 Electrified take to charge at home?+−
At 7.4kW on a single-phase wallbox the 87.2kWh battery takes around eleven to twelve hours from flat. On a three-phase 11kW supply that reduces to around eight hours. DC rapid charging at up to 240kW is substantially faster but is handled by the charge point's own tethered CCS cable.
Can the Genesis G80 Electrified charge at 22kW?+−
No. The onboard AC charger is limited to 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable or charge point cannot push AC charging beyond 11kW. On a single-phase home supply the maximum is 7.4kW regardless of cable rating. The 800-volt fast charging only applies to DC, using the charge point's own tethered cable.
What cable length is best for the Genesis G80 Electrified?+−
A 5m cable is sufficient where the wallbox sits close to the parking spot. For an executive saloon where parking precision varies, or where the wallbox is at the far end of a garage or driveway, a 7m or 10m cable provides more flexibility and avoids straining the cable or the connector when the car is not perfectly positioned.
