Charge speeds
Across the Genesis range.
Every Genesis here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. AC charging tops out at 11kW across the range. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Charging guide
Charging
your Genesis.
Genesis offers four fully electric models in the UK: the GV60 crossover, the GV70 Electrified, the G80 Electrified saloon, and the Electrified GV80 SUV. Every one of them uses a Type 2 inlet, so they all take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. Genesis has no Type 1 models and no plug-in hybrids in its current UK line-up.
All four models share the same 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger, so the charging speed question comes down to what supply you have at home. Pick your model below to see exact charge times and its recommended cable, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Genesis need?
Every Genesis EV uses a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. A 5m length suits most home driveways and public AC points. Choose 7m or 10m if you park on the street, your wallbox is mounted at a distance from where you park, or you need extra reach at a public charger.
All Genesis models have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. Most UK homes run on a single-phase supply, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable's rating. On a single-phase home a 7.4kW cable delivers the full speed available. A 22kW cable only earns its extra cost if you have a three-phase supply at home or regularly use 22kW public AC charge points, where a Genesis will draw its full 11kW.
In short, a single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable covers every Genesis on the road today. Upgrade to a 22kW cable only if your supply and charging location make three-phase charging a realistic option.

questions.

Contact usDo all Genesis EVs use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. The GV60, GV70 Electrified, G80 Electrified and Electrified GV80 all use a Type 2 inlet and take a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging. Genesis has no Type 1 models in the UK, so no Genesis owner needs a Type 1 cable.
What charging cable does a Genesis GV60 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most driveways. The GV60 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard single-phase UK home supply it charges at 7.4kW. A 7.4kW cable gives the full home speed. A 22kW cable only helps on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC point.
Can a Genesis charge at 22kW on AC?+−
No Genesis reaches 22kW. Every Genesis EV has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, so 11kW is the absolute maximum AC rate, and only on a three-phase supply. On a standard single-phase UK home every Genesis charges at 7.4kW. A 22kW cable will cap at 11kW on this car.
What is the difference in cable needs between the Genesis GV60 and the Electrified GV80?+−
There is no difference. Both use a Type 2 inlet and both have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. The same 5m Type 2 to Type 2 cable works for either car. The GV80 has a larger battery so it takes longer to charge, but the cable specification is identical.
What length cable do I need for my Genesis?+−
5m is the right choice for most home driveways and public charge points. Step up to 7m or 10m if you park on the street, share a wallbox, or the socket sits far from where the car's charge port is located. Longer cables are heavier and cost more, so buy only as much length as you need.
