Genesis GV70 Electrified
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your GV70 Electrified+−
The Genesis GV70 Electrified has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Genesis GV70 Electrified.
The Genesis GV70 Electrified is the battery-electric version of Genesis's mid-size SUV, available in the UK since 2022. It is built around a 77.4kWh battery and uses a 400V-to-800V multi-charging system that lets it accept the very high DC speeds its platform is capable of without requiring an 800V-native charger. The car uses a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for rapid DC.
For home and public AC charging you connect with a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The GV70 Electrified's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. Rapid DC charging, where the car can accept up to 240kW at a compatible rapid charger, uses the station's own tethered lead and does not need a cable you carry.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the GV70 Electrified need?
The GV70 Electrified's onboard AC charger is rated to 11kW, but that ceiling only applies with a three-phase supply. In UK homes, the norm is a single-phase connection, which limits AC charging to 7.4kW regardless of what cable or wallbox is installed. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable therefore covers the full speed most owners will see at home, and it is the more economical purchase.
There are two situations where a 22kW three-phase cable earns its cost: you have a three-phase supply at home, or you regularly stop at 22kW public AC chargers during longer journeys. At those points the GV70 Electrified draws its full 11kW. Plugged into a single-phase home socket, a 22kW cable is no faster than a 7.4kW one. Given the car's 77.4kWh battery, overnight charging at 7.4kW still fills it from empty in around ten to eleven hours, which suits most daily routines without any compromise.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 77.4kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5 to £6 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £21 at a standard domestic rate of roughly 27p per kWh. Overnight home charging on a time-of-use tariff is the most economical way to run the GV70 Electrified. Public rapid chargers are noticeably more expensive at typically 45p to 80p per kWh, making them better suited to longer journeys than routine top-ups. Tariffs move, so check current rates with your supplier.

Genesis GV70 Electrified FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Genesis GV70 Electrified need?+−
The Genesis GV70 Electrified has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Genesis GV70 Electrified charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Genesis GV70 Electrified has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
Does the Genesis GV70 Electrified support V2L?+−
Yes. The Genesis GV70 Electrified supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.
What cable does the Genesis GV70 Electrified need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. A 5m lead covers most driveways. On a single-phase home supply, which is standard across UK residential properties, a 7.4kW cable delivers the maximum available speed. A 22kW three-phase cable is only worth the extra cost if you have a three-phase home supply or regularly charge at 22kW public AC points.
Can the Genesis GV70 Electrified charge at 240kW?+−
On DC, yes: the GV70 Electrified is rated up to 240kW at a compatible rapid charger, using the charger's own tethered cable. On AC the maximum is 11kW on three phases, or 7.4kW on a standard single-phase UK home supply. The Type 2 cable you buy is for AC charging only.
How long does the Genesis GV70 Electrified take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 77.4kWh battery takes around ten to eleven hours from empty to full, which suits overnight charging. On a three-phase 11kW supply that reduces to roughly seven hours. A three-pin socket is much slower at around 33 hours and works better as an emergency backup.
Does the Genesis GV70 Electrified need an 800V charger?+−
No. The GV70 Electrified uses a multi-charging system that lets it accept high DC speeds from both 400V and 800V rapid chargers, so you do not need to seek out specific charger types for fast charging. AC charging at home requires a standard Type 2 to Type 2 cable and is unrelated to the car's DC voltage architecture.
