Charge speeds
Across the Jaecoo range.
Every Jaecoo here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. On-board AC charging ranges from about 6.6kW to 11kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Jaecoo's UK plug-in range includes two Super Hybrid Series PHEVs, the Jaecoo 7 SHS and the Jaecoo 8, as well as the fully electric E5 SUV. All three models use a Type 2 inlet, so the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable works across the entire Jaecoo range for home and public AC charging.
What changes between models is AC charging speed. The Jaecoo E5 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, while both PHEVs are single-phase and charge at 6.6kW on AC. That distinction is what determines whether a bigger cable is worth buying for your model. Pick your model below for exact charging times and its recommended cable, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Jaecoo need?
Every Jaecoo charges through a Type 2 inlet, so you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. A 5m lead suits most driveways and home wallboxes. Go for 7m or 10m if you park on the street or your wallbox is mounted well away from where the car sits. No Jaecoo model needs a Type 1 cable.
The Jaecoo E5 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. Almost all UK homes are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating, so a 7.4kW cable delivers the full home speed available for most owners. A 22kW cable only adds value on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC charger, where the E5 will pull its full 11kW.
The Jaecoo 7 SHS and Jaecoo 8 are plug-in hybrids that charge at 6.6kW single-phase on AC. A 7.4kW cable is more than either can draw at home, so there is no benefit in paying for a larger one. Their moderately sized batteries also suit a 3-pin granny charger for a slower overnight top-up if needed. A single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable suits every Jaecoo currently on sale.

Contact usDo all Jaecoo models use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. Every Jaecoo plug-in model available in the UK, including the 7 SHS PHEV, the 8 PHEV, and the fully electric E5, uses a Type 2 inlet. They all take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging, and no Jaecoo requires a Type 1 cable.
What charging cable does a Jaecoo E5 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most driveways. The E5 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard single-phase home supply it charges at 7.4kW. A 22kW cable only unlocks extra speed on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC charger.
Can a Jaecoo charge at 22kW AC?+−
No Jaecoo charges at 22kW on AC. The E5 tops out at 11kW on three phases, and the 7 SHS and 8 PHEVs are single-phase only at 6.6kW. On a standard home supply every Jaecoo charges at 7.4kW or less, so a 22kW cable offers no benefit at home.
What cable does a Jaecoo 7 SHS or Jaecoo 8 PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Both PHEVs charge at 6.6kW single-phase on AC, so a standard 7.4kW cable is more than enough for either. Their batteries can also be topped up overnight using a 3-pin granny charger if the full cable is kept for public charging.
What length cable do I need for my Jaecoo?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Step up to 7m or 10m if you park on the street, have an awkward driveway, or your wallbox is positioned a long way from the car. Buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably to avoid dragging a heavy coil.
