Jaecoo 8
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your 8+−
The Jaecoo 8 has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.
Which Jaecoo 8 versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Jaecoo 8, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Jaecoo 8 Luxury
- Jaecoo 8 Executive
Whichever 8 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Jaecoo 8.
The Jaecoo 8 is Jaecoo's flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, offered in six or seven-seat configurations in the UK from 2026. It uses the brand's SHS-P hybrid system with a sizeable 34.46kWh battery, giving a claimed electric range of around 83 miles. It supports DC rapid charging at up to 70kW as well as standard AC top-ups, with both using a Type 2 inlet. The DC rapid session is handled by the charger's own tethered CCS cable.
The cable you bring yourself is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The Jaecoo 8's onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW on a single phase, which determines the maximum speed available on any AC connection.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the 8 need?
The Jaecoo 8 onboard AC charger accepts up to 6.6kW, which is the practical ceiling for every AC charging session you have regardless of the cable rating. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is perfectly matched to this car, delivering its full onboard charging rate from both home wallboxes and public Type 2 posts. A 22kW cable offers no speed advantage and is not needed.
With a 34.46kWh battery, the Jaecoo 8 takes around five and a half hours to fill from empty at 6.6kW, which slots comfortably into an overnight charge. DC rapid charging at up to 70kW brings the battery from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes, but that uses the charger's own cable. For everyday home use, a 5m Type 2 to Type 2 lead at 7.4kW is the practical recommendation.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 34.46kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.50 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £9 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Because the battery is reasonably large for a PHEV, daily charging on a cheaper overnight tariff makes a noticeable difference to running costs over time. Check current tariff rates, as they change frequently.

Jaecoo 8 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Jaecoo 8 need?+−
The Jaecoo 8 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
Does the Jaecoo 8 support V2L?+−
Yes. The Jaecoo 8 supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.
What cable does the Jaecoo 8 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The Jaecoo 8 onboard AC charger accepts up to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable is the right match. A 22kW cable adds no benefit on this car. A 5m length suits most driveways.
Can the Jaecoo 8 charge at 22kW?+−
No. Its onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW, so the maximum AC charging speed is 6.6kW regardless of the cable you use. A 22kW cable will not increase the charge rate. The Jaecoo 8 does support DC rapid charging at up to 70kW via its CCS port, which is a separate inlet using the charger's own tethered cable.
How long does the Jaecoo 8 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 34.46kWh battery takes around five to six hours from empty. That fits well within an overnight charge window. DC rapid charging at up to 70kW reduces a 30% to 80% session to roughly 20 minutes, but that requires a rapid charger's own cable.
What length cable do I need for the Jaecoo 8?+−
A 5m cable covers most driveway situations. If your wallbox is positioned further from where you park, or the charging port is on the far side from the socket, a 7m cable gives useful extra reach without being unwieldy.
