Why this fits your TX+

The LEVC TX has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which LEVC TX versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every LEVC TX, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • LEVC TX Access

Whichever TX trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the LEVC TX.

The LEVC TX is the London Electric Vehicle Company's range-extended electric taxi, on the road since 2018. It is built specifically for licensed taxi work, combining a 31kWh battery with a small petrol range extender so drivers can work full shifts without range anxiety. The TX charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions. The cable used for depot wallboxes and public AC chargers is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The TX's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases as standard, with a 22kW upgrade option available on some vehicles. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW via CCS (and CHAdeMO on some early units) enables quick top-ups between shifts. The three-phase 11kW AC capability is worth noting: at a three-phase commercial supply, the TX can charge faster than the 7.4kW ceiling that applies to most single-phase home wallboxes.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the TX need?

The TX's 11kW three-phase onboard charger means the right cable depends on where you charge. At a three-phase commercial supply, a 22kW or 11kW three-phase Type 2 cable allows the TX to draw its full 11kW, cutting charge time noticeably compared with single-phase. At a standard single-phase 7kW home wallbox, any Type 2 cable will be capped at 7.4kW by the supply, regardless of the cable's rating.

For taxi depot use, a three-phase cable is the better investment if the depot has three-phase supplies fitted, which is common in professional charging bays. If home charging on a single-phase supply is your main option, a 7.4kW cable delivers the maximum available there. A 5m cable suits most depot bays; a 7m lead provides extra reach for awkward parking positions.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 31kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.30 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £8.40 at a standard rate of roughly 27p per kWh. Taxi operators typically charge overnight at a depot or at home between shifts, keeping costs predictable. DC rapid charging is quicker but dearer per kWh. Check current business tariffs as rates change.

Contact us
What charging cable does the LEVC TX need?+

The LEVC TX has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 22kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the LEVC TX need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging. The TX supports 11kW AC on three phases as standard and up to 22kW on the optional upgraded charger. For DC rapid charging at up to 50kW via CCS (or CHAdeMO on some units), the station provides its own tethered cable.

Can the LEVC TX charge at 22kW?+

Some TX vehicles have a 22kW AC upgrade fitted. On those, a three-phase 22kW cable at a suitable three-phase AC point will let the TX charge at the full 22kW. Without the upgrade, the standard 11kW onboard charger applies. On a single-phase home supply, charging is capped at 7.4kW regardless.

How long does the LEVC TX take to charge?+

At 11kW on a three-phase supply, the 31kWh battery refills from empty in roughly three hours. On a single-phase 7.4kW wallbox it takes around four to five hours. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW can replenish a significant portion of the battery in under an hour, useful between taxi shifts.

What length cable do I need for the LEVC TX?+

A 5m cable works for most depot bays and home driveways where the wallbox is close to the vehicle. For larger depot yards where parking positions vary, a 7m or 10m lead gives the flexibility to reach the charging inlet without repositioning the vehicle. A cable kept at the depot is common practice for licensed operators.
