Why this fits your VN5+

The LEVC VN5 has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7.4kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

Which LEVC VN5 versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every LEVC VN5, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • LEVC VN5 City
  • LEVC VN5 Ultima
  • LEVC VN5 Business

Whichever VN5 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the LEVC VN5.

The LEVC VN5 (2020 to 2026) is the commercial van variant of the LEVC TX taxi, sharing the same range-extended electric powertrain and 31kWh battery. It was marketed at last-mile delivery and urban trade fleets wanting zero-emission capability without the range constraints of a pure battery van. Like the TX, the VN5 charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions. The cable for depot and public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The VN5's AC charging rate sits at 7.4kW as the base figure, with 11kW and 22kW options available depending on specification. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW via CCS is available on all versions, making mid-day top-ups feasible for operators running longer routes. The range extender engine further reduces range pressure for demanding duty cycles.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the VN5 need?

The right cable for the VN5 depends on the charging specification of your particular vehicle. At the base 7.4kW single-phase rate, a standard 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers the car's maximum AC speed and is the straightforward choice for home or single-phase depot charging. If the van has the 11kW or 22kW AC option fitted, a three-phase cable at a three-phase supply will increase throughput: 11kW at a single-phase 7.4kW wallbox is still capped at 7.4kW, so the three-phase supply is needed to benefit.

For depot use, measure the distance from the wallbox socket to the van's charging inlet before buying a cable. Commercial vans are large and the parking orientation varies, so a 7m or 10m cable is often more practical than the standard 5m. A cable left at the depot avoids drivers needing to carry one. Verify your VN5's AC charging specification before investing in a three-phase cable.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 31kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.30 on an off-peak business tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £8.40 at a standard rate of roughly 27p per kWh. Fleet operators using overnight depot charging will achieve predictable costs per charge cycle. Public rapid charging is significantly more expensive per kWh and best used for unplanned top-ups during the working day. Check current commercial tariffs.

Contact us
What charging cable does the LEVC VN5 need?+

The LEVC VN5 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 7.4kW.

Can the LEVC VN5 charge at 22kW?+

Only with the optional three-phase onboard charger. The LEVC VN5 is single-phase 7.4kW as standard, so a 7.4kW cable delivers its full AC speed. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, choose the 22kW three-phase cable to use it.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the LEVC VN5 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging. The base VN5 charges at 7.4kW single-phase; higher-spec versions offer 11kW or 22kW three-phase. For DC rapid charging at up to 50kW via CCS, the charging station provides its own tethered cable.

Can the LEVC VN5 rapid charge?+

Yes. The VN5 supports DC rapid charging at up to 50kW via CCS, which can add a meaningful amount of range during a mid-day break. AC charging through the Type 2 inlet ranges from 7.4kW to 22kW depending on the vehicle's onboard charger specification.

How long does the LEVC VN5 take to charge?+

At 7.4kW on a single-phase wallbox, the 31kWh battery takes roughly four hours from empty to full. With an 11kW three-phase supply it is closer to three hours, and at 22kW on a suitable three-phase point it drops to around one and a half hours. DC rapid charging at 50kW can substantially recharge the battery in under an hour.

What length cable do I need for the LEVC VN5?+

A 7m cable is a sensible starting point for commercial van use, where parking positions at depot bays are not always perfectly aligned with the charger. A 5m cable works in a dedicated bay with consistent parking. A 10m lead is worth considering if the depot layout means the van is often parked well away from the wallbox.
