Why this fits your e-Rifter+

The Peugeot e-Rifter has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Peugeot e-Rifter.

The Peugeot e-Rifter is a family-focused electric MPV on sale in the UK since 2021, based on the same K9 platform as the e-Partner van but designed for passenger carrying with sliding rear doors and a spacious interior. It comes with a 50kWh battery and connects to home wallboxes and public AC charge points via a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

AC charging is handled by a standard 7.4kW single-phase onboard charger, with an 11kW three-phase option available on some specifications. DC rapid charging goes up to 100kW through the CCS port, which relies on the charger's own tethered cable at the rapid charger station.

The e-Rifter's standard AC charger is 7.4kW single-phase; the 11kW three-phase option requires a three-phase supply to unlock extra speed. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the e-Rifter need?

With a standard 7.4kW single-phase onboard charger, the e-Rifter cannot charge faster than 7.4kW on AC at home or at a typical public AC point. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable gives you full speed at any single-phase wallbox or public tethered-free AC unit, and there is no reason to spend more on a 22kW cable for single-phase use.

Where the e-Rifter differs from a basic van is that families often need to top up in different places, from a home wallbox to a supermarket or retail park AC point. A good quality 5m cable handles all of those without fuss. If your e-Rifter carries the optional 11kW three-phase charger and you have access to a three-phase public AC point, a 22kW cable lets it draw the full 11kW there. But for the typical UK household on single-phase power, the 7.4kW cable is the straightforward answer.

What does it cost to charge?

A full charge from empty on the 50kWh battery costs roughly £4 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £14 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. As a family vehicle that typically returns home each evening, the e-Rifter suits overnight charging particularly well. Public rapid DC charging is considerably more expensive per kWh and is best reserved for long trips away from home. Check current tariffs, as rates change regularly.

Good

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Peugeot e-Rifter need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The standard onboard charger draws up to 7.4kW on a single phase, so a 7.4kW cable is all you need at home. If your e-Rifter has the optional 11kW three-phase charger, a 22kW cable lets it pull 11kW at a three-phase public AC point. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own CCS cable.

Can the Peugeot e-Rifter charge at 22kW?+

No. The highest the e-Rifter can charge on AC is 11kW, and only if fitted with the optional three-phase charger and connected to a three-phase supply. Most UK homes are single-phase, limiting home charging to 7.4kW regardless of the cable or wallbox used.

How long does the Peugeot e-Rifter take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 50kWh battery takes around 7 hours from empty to full, comfortably fitting an overnight charge. With the optional 11kW three-phase charger on a three-phase supply that drops to around 4.5 hours. Plugging into a 3-pin socket is an option in emergencies but takes well over 20 hours and is not recommended for regular use.

What cable length do I need for the Peugeot e-Rifter?+

A 5m cable suits most home driveways and public AC stops. If your wallbox is on the far side of the garage or you regularly park at an angle to it, a 7m cable gives you more flexibility without pulling the lead taut and stressing the connector.
