Porsche Cayenne Electric
Charging cable
The Cayenne Electric is 11kW three-phase as standard. The optional 22kW charger charges faster on a three-phase supply. The 22kW cable is the right one either way.
Charges about 195% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Cayenne Electric+−
The Porsche Cayenne Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Porsche Cayenne Electric.
The Porsche Cayenne Electric is a fully electric large SUV launched in 2026, built on an 800V successor platform to the Cayenne's existing architecture. It carries a 113kWh gross battery with around 108kWh usable and connects to AC chargers via a Type 2 inlet. For AC charging at home or at public AC points, the lead you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
The standard onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, with an optional 22kW AC charger and an optional 11kW inductive charger also available. DC rapid charging is on a separate CCS port and reaches up to 400kW, which uses the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you buy. The 800V architecture means DC sessions can be remarkably swift, with 10 to 80 percent estimated at around 16 minutes at a suitable charger.
The standard onboard charger is 11kW three-phase. An optional 22kW unit is available on some specifications. Select your trim to confirm the AC rate above. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Cayenne Electric need?
With an 11kW standard onboard charger, the Cayenne Electric can make full use of a three-phase 11kW supply wherever one is available, including some public AC points and some commercial premises. However, the vast majority of UK homes run on a single-phase supply, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating. On a typical home installation a 7.4kW Type 2 cable delivers the maximum speed your supply can provide.
A 22kW three-phase cable is worth considering only if your property has a three-phase supply, which is uncommon in residential settings, or if you regularly charge at 22kW public AC stations. If your car is fitted with the optional 22kW onboard charger, it will pull up to 22kW on a three-phase supply, reducing charge time on the big battery meaningfully. On a single-phase home that cable charges at the same 7.4kW as a cheaper one.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 108kWh usable battery from empty costs roughly £8 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £29 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the cheapest way to run this car day to day. Public rapid charging can cost 45p to 80p per kWh or more, so it is best reserved for longer journeys. Check current tariff rates, as they change.

Porsche Cayenne Electric FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Porsche Cayenne Electric need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging at home or at public AC points. The standard onboard charger supports up to 11kW three-phase; some cars have an optional 22kW unit. DC rapid charging uses a CCS connection with the charger's own tethered cable, so no separate cable is needed for that.
Can the Porsche Cayenne Electric charge at 22kW?+−
Only with the optional 22kW onboard charger fitted, and only on a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC point. The standard car is 11kW three-phase. On a typical single-phase UK home supply, AC charging is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the cable or charger used.
How long does the Cayenne Electric take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 108kWh usable battery takes around 15 hours from empty, making an overnight charge essential for a full top-up. On a three-phase 11kW supply that falls to around 10 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 400kW is far quicker for longer trips.
What length cable do I need for the Porsche Cayenne Electric?+−
A 5m cable covers most home charging setups. Given the size of the Cayenne, if your wallbox is mounted some distance from your usual parking position or the charging port ends up on the far side of the car, a 7m or 10m lead is worth considering for a stress-free connection every time.
