Porsche Macan Electric
Charging cable
The Macan Electric is 11kW three-phase as standard. The optional 22kW charger charges faster on a three-phase supply. The 22kW cable is the right one either way.
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Macan Electric+−
The Porsche Macan Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Porsche Macan Electric versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Porsche Macan Electric, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Porsche Macan Electric Macan
- Porsche Macan Electric Macan 4
- Porsche Macan Electric Macan 4S
- Porsche Macan Electric Macan Turbo
Whichever Macan Electric trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Porsche Macan Electric.
The Porsche Macan Electric is the first fully electric generation of the Macan, built on the Premium Platform Electric architecture and on sale in the UK from 2024. It comes in Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo variants, all using the same 95kWh usable battery. Like its Taycan sibling, the Macan Electric operates on an 800V system for ultra-rapid DC charging. AC charging uses a Type 2 inlet and a CCS socket handles the DC side.
To charge at home or on a public AC post, you bring a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Macan Electric's standard onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases; a 22kW AC charger is available as an option. DC rapid charging at up to 270kW uses the charger's own tethered cable, so you do not need to carry anything for motorway stops.
All Macan Electric variants share the 95kWh battery. The optional 22kW AC charger upgrade can halve home charge times if you also have a three-phase supply. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Macan Electric need?
The Macan Electric comes with an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger as standard. On a typical UK single-phase domestic wallbox, that 11kW capability goes unused: your home supply is capped at 7.4kW, and that is the charging speed regardless of what cable you connect. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is therefore the practical answer for most home-charging Macan Electric owners.
The optional 22kW AC charger upgrade is worth having if you regularly charge at 22kW public AC points or your property has three-phase power. With that option and a three-phase-rated cable, the Macan Electric can charge at the full 22kW, cutting a home fill-up to around four and a half hours. Without the option, even on a three-phase supply the car is limited to 11kW. On a standard single-phase supply at home, neither the standard nor optional charger pushes beyond 7.4kW.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 95kWh battery from empty costs roughly £7 on an off-peak tariff at around 7.5p per kWh. At the standard daytime rate of around 27p the same fill is around £25.50. These costs are competitive for a premium SUV with this range capability, and an off-peak EV tariff makes overnight charging a genuinely low-cost routine. Public rapid charging at 45p to 80p per kWh is expensive for a pack this size, so most Macan Electric owners will treat rapid stops as a journey tool rather than a habit. Check the rate you are on before budgeting.

Porsche Macan Electric FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Porsche Macan Electric need?+−
The Porsche Macan Electric has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Porsche Macan Electric charge at 22kW?+−
As standard the Porsche Macan Electric has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger; the optional 22kW charger lets it charge at up to 22kW on a three-phase supply. Either way it uses the same 22kW three-phase cable.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Porsche Macan Electric need for home charging?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Macan Electric uses a standard Type 2 AC inlet. On a UK single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW cable is the right choice for most owners. Only step up to a three-phase cable if your home has a three-phase supply or you regularly charge at 11kW or 22kW public AC posts, particularly if you have the optional 22kW AC charger fitted.
Can the Porsche Macan Electric charge at 22kW on AC?+−
Only if the optional 22kW onboard AC charger has been specified. The standard Macan Electric tops out at 11kW on three phases. Even with the 22kW option, three-phase power is required: on a standard UK single-phase home supply the car charges at 7.4kW. The optional charger mainly benefits owners with three-phase home supply or regular access to 22kW public AC chargers.
How long does the Porsche Macan Electric take to charge at home?+−
On a standard 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 95kWh battery takes around 13 hours from empty, comfortably spanning an overnight charge. With the optional 22kW charger and a three-phase supply, that drops to around 4.5 hours. The Macan Electric's 800V DC charging is where speeds really shine: up to 270kW allows a 10-80% rapid charge in around 21 minutes at a suitable ultra-rapid post.
Does rapid charging the Porsche Macan Electric need a special cable?+−
No. DC rapid charging on the Macan Electric uses a CCS socket, and the tethered cable at the rapid charger connects directly to it. You do not need to carry or buy a DC cable. For AC charging at home or on a public AC post, the Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the one you supply. Ensure your AC cable is rated for the charger output you are using.
