Renault Kangoo E-Tech
Charging cable
The Kangoo E-Tech is 11kW three-phase as standard. The optional 22kW charger charges faster on a three-phase supply. The 22kW cable is the right one either way.
Charges about 195% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Kangoo E-Tech+−
The Renault Kangoo E-Tech has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Renault Kangoo E-Tech.
The Renault Kangoo E-Tech is the third-generation electric version of Renault's popular compact van and MPV, launched in 2022. It carries a 45kWh battery and uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging alongside a CCS port for DC rapid charging at up to 80kW. The Kangoo E-Tech is available in both van and passenger MPV body configurations.
For home or public AC charging, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The standard onboard AC charger supports up to 11kW on three phases, with a 22kW option available on some versions. DC rapid charging at up to 80kW uses the charger's own tethered CCS cable. The 45kWh battery is sized to suit urban and suburban delivery or family use, with a full AC charge from empty achievable comfortably overnight.
Standard AC is 11kW three-phase; a 22kW option is available on some variants. Confirm the specification of your vehicle before choosing a cable. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Kangoo E-Tech need?
The Kangoo E-Tech's standard 11kW onboard charger makes it capable of drawing more than the 7.4kW a standard single-phase UK supply provides. For home charging, that means most installations cap out at 7.4kW regardless of cable, and a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers the full speed available in that scenario. On a typical home wallbox that is the right and more affordable choice.
A 22kW-rated cable is useful only if you have access to a three-phase supply, which is more common in commercial settings than in homes, or if you regularly visit 22kW public AC stations. On a three-phase supply the standard 11kW charger will pull its rated 11kW from a 22kW cable just as well as from a 7.4kW one. If the car has the optional 22kW charger, a three-phase cable lets it charge at the full rate. On a single-phase connection either cable delivers 7.4kW.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 45kWh battery from empty costs roughly £3 to £4 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £12 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. For businesses operating the van version, using overnight off-peak electricity reduces running costs significantly. Check current tariff rates, as they vary.

Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Renault Kangoo E-Tech need?+−
The Renault Kangoo E-Tech has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 22kW.
Can the Renault Kangoo E-Tech charge at 22kW?+−
As standard the Renault Kangoo E-Tech has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger; the optional 22kW charger lets it charge at up to 22kW on a three-phase supply. Either way it uses the same 22kW three-phase cable.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Renault Kangoo E-Tech need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. The Kangoo E-Tech supports up to 11kW three-phase AC (22kW optional) and DC rapid charging at up to 80kW via CCS. The DC connection uses the charger's own tethered cable. For most home setups a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable covers the full speed available.
Can the Kangoo E-Tech charge at 22kW?+−
Only if the 22kW optional onboard charger is fitted and a three-phase supply or 22kW public AC point is used. The standard car is limited to 11kW three-phase. On a single-phase UK home supply, AC charging is always capped at 7.4kW regardless of cable or charger rating.
How long does the Kangoo E-Tech take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 45kWh battery takes around six hours from empty, which fits comfortably into an overnight window. On an 11kW three-phase supply the same charge takes roughly four to four and a half hours. DC rapid charging at up to 80kW covers a 20 to 80 percent charge in well under an hour.
What length cable do I need for the Renault Kangoo E-Tech?+−
A 5m cable suits most home and workplace charging setups. If the Kangoo is parked further from the charger than usual, or the cable needs to clear other vehicles or obstacles, a 7m or 10m lead gives the extra reach without putting tension on the connection.
