Why this fits your Corsa-e+

The Vauxhall Corsa-e has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Vauxhall Corsa-e.

The Vauxhall Corsa-e is a first-generation electric supermini, on sale in the UK from 2020 to 2023 before the updated Corsa Electric took over. Built on the Stellantis e-CMP platform and sharing its underpinnings with the Peugeot e-208, it carries a 50kWh battery and charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid charging at up to 100kW. It suits city driving and shorter commutes very well, and a home wallbox makes day-to-day running straightforward.

The cable you bring to a wallbox or public AC charge point is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. Standard AC charging is 7.4kW on a single phase, with an 11kW three-phase option available on some trims. DC rapid charging goes through the charge point's own tethered CCS cable, which is nothing you supply separately.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Corsa-e need?

The Corsa-e's standard onboard charger tops out at 7.4kW, which is exactly what a home wallbox or standard public 7kW AC post delivers on a single-phase supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable gives the car its full AC charging speed and is the right buy for the vast majority of Corsa-e owners. There is nothing to gain from a more expensive cable on a standard home setup.

Some Corsa-e variants were offered with an optional 11kW three-phase onboard charger. If your car has this and your property or workplace has a three-phase supply, a 22kW cable allows it to draw the full 11kW. On a conventional single-phase circuit, though, even a 22kW cable delivers only 7.4kW. Three-phase supplies are uncommon in UK homes, so check before buying anything other than the standard 7.4kW lead. A 5m cable suits most home driveways; a 7m lead offers more reach if needed.

What does it cost to charge?

A full charge from empty costs roughly £3.75 on an off-peak tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £13.50 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. As a city car with a 50kWh battery and a modest daily mileage, the Corsa-e is genuinely cheap to run on electric power at home overnight rates. Public rapid charging is much pricier per kWh and better kept for occasions when a top-up is needed mid-journey. Tariffs vary and change, so always confirm current rates with your supplier.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Vauxhall Corsa-e need?+

The Vauxhall Corsa-e has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Vauxhall Corsa-e need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for wallboxes and public AC charge points. A 7.4kW cable covers the standard onboard charger's full single-phase speed. If your Corsa-e has the 11kW optional charger and you have a three-phase supply, a 22kW cable is worth considering. DC rapid charging at up to 100kW uses the charge point's tethered CCS lead, not a cable you buy.

Can the Vauxhall Corsa-e charge at 22kW?+

No. Even the 11kW optional charger variant cannot exceed 11kW on AC. A 22kW cable delivers no speed benefit over a 7.4kW cable on a single-phase home supply, and even on three-phase the car tops out at 11kW. For most owners a 7.4kW cable is the practical and cost-effective choice.

How long does the Vauxhall Corsa-e take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW wallbox, the 50kWh battery takes around 7 hours from empty to full, which suits an overnight charge well. With the optional 11kW charger on a three-phase supply, that falls to roughly 5 hours. A 3-pin plug socket at around 2.3kW takes over 21 hours and is not recommended for daily use.

What cable length do I need for the Vauxhall Corsa-e?+

A 5m cable handles most home driveways and public car park bays comfortably. If your wallbox is mounted away from your usual parking spot, or you regularly use public charge points where the post is not directly beside the car, a 7m lead gives enough extra length to avoid an awkward stretch or tight angle at the inlet.
