Why this fits your Mokka-e+

The Vauxhall Mokka-e has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Vauxhall Mokka-e.

The Vauxhall Mokka-e is a first-generation electric compact SUV, on sale in the UK from 2020 to 2023 alongside the later Mokka Electric. It shares the Stellantis e-CMP platform with the Peugeot e-2008 and carries a 50kWh battery, charging through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid charging at up to 100kW. It appeals to drivers who want a compact SUV footprint with an WLTP range suited to everyday commuting and weekend trips.

At public AC charge points and home wallboxes, you bring a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Mokka-e's standard onboard AC charger runs at 7.4kW on a single phase, with an 11kW three-phase variant available on some specifications. Rapid DC sessions at up to 100kW go through the charge point's own tethered cable.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Mokka-e need?

The Mokka-e's standard 7.4kW onboard charger matches exactly what a single-phase home wallbox delivers. Buying a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is therefore the straightforward, correct answer for most owners: it gives the car its full AC charging speed at home, at work, and at public 7kW posts without paying for capacity the car cannot use.

If your car was specified with the optional 11kW three-phase charger, and you have a three-phase supply at home or at work, a 22kW cable unlocks the full 11kW rate. On the far more common single-phase UK home setup, a 22kW cable makes no difference: the supply limits charging to 7.4kW regardless of what the cable can carry. A 5m lead covers most driveways; a 7m option is worth considering if your wallbox is further from where the car typically parks.

What does it cost to charge?

Topping up the 50kWh battery from empty costs roughly £3.75 on an off-peak tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £13.50 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. An overnight home wallbox charge keeps the Mokka-e ready for the day at minimal cost. Public rapid charging is an option for longer journeys but is far more expensive per kWh, so it is worth reserving for when you genuinely need it on the road. Tariffs vary by supplier and change over time, so check before estimating your monthly outlay.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Vauxhall Mokka-e need?+

The Vauxhall Mokka-e has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

Can the Vauxhall Mokka-e charge at 22kW?+

Only with the optional three-phase onboard charger. The Vauxhall Mokka-e is single-phase 7.4kW as standard, so a 7.4kW cable delivers its full AC speed. If you specified the optional 11kW three-phase charger, choose the 22kW three-phase cable to use it.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Vauxhall Mokka-e need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for wallbox and public AC charging. A 7.4kW cable covers the standard onboard charger's full speed on a single-phase supply. If your Mokka-e has the optional 11kW charger and your property has a three-phase supply, a 22kW cable is worth considering. DC rapid charging uses the tethered CCS cable at the charge point, not a cable you purchase.

Can the Vauxhall Mokka-e rapid charge on DC?+

Yes. The Mokka-e has a CCS port and supports DC rapid charging at up to 100kW at compatible rapid charge points. The tethered cable at the charger provides the connection. On AC the car is limited to 7.4kW on a single-phase supply, or up to 11kW with the optional charger on a three-phase supply.

How long does the Vauxhall Mokka-e take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 50kWh battery takes around 7 hours from fully depleted, which works well as an overnight charge. If your Mokka-e has the 11kW option and you have a three-phase supply, the same charge takes around 5 hours. A 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW would take over 21 hours and is not practical for daily use.

What cable length do I need for the Vauxhall Mokka-e?+

A 5m cable suits most typical home driveways and standard public car park bays. If your wallbox is mounted at some distance from where you park, or you often charge at public points where the post is not immediately adjacent to the car, a 7m or 10m cable provides extra reach without straining the connector or having to reposition the vehicle.
